I must confess that I am new to the concept of there actually being an “official” color of the year.  The distinction of picking this color is given to Pantone.  So I have taken the following straight from their illustrious site: “Pantone LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of X-Rite, Incorporated, is the world-renowned authority on color and provider of color systems and leading technology for the selection and accurate communication of color across a variety of industries. The PANTONE® name is known worldwide as the standard language for color communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer.”      I don’t think I could have said it any better.  In fact, I don’t think I could have said it at all ;-D

I was very excited to find that they selected “PANTONE 18-3224 RADIANT ORCHID, a captivating magical, enigmatic purple”. We incorporate many silk florals in various shades of purple such as roses, hydrangea, calla lilies, irises, etc in our silk floral arrangements including Phalaenopsis orchids in this shade.  You can bring any room immediately up-to-date by adding a silk floral arrangement with the color of the year. I have seen floral arrangements that blend colors from two or three years in a row.

We have plans to create quite a few Christmas silk floral arrangements in silver and orchid.  Stop by periodically to see how we sneak the color of the year into our arrangements and let us know which ones you like.  Encouragement is always appreciated.  I see a light grey and muted orchid living room in my future.  Should I let my husband know?
